Still Producing Pearls uses the oyster as a metaphor for the female body in transition: sensual, armoured, vulnerable and enduring. Set against an intense pink field, the three forms hover between object, organ and relic, suggesting flesh, heat and the private weather of menopause. Referencing fertility, desire and ageing, my work reframes later life as transformation: strange, luminous and alive, and still capable of producing meaning beyond reproduction entirely.
